At CURA Art, our philosophy is simple: to support and encourage those who collect.

Collecting can be incredibly fulfilling and impactful. Collectors are custodians of our cultural heritage and CURA Art exists to help them fully harness their potential.

CURA Art (Cura means “care” in Latin) supports collectors and organizations with the care of collections. We work from our main offices in London and Los Angeles with clients globally.

  • With a personal and trusted approach, we offer specialized advice and services with a focus on long-term preservation and legacy. From working with art advisors and curators to managing display, insurance, and estate planning, your collection is our priority.

  • CURA Art can optimize and add value to a collection through proposing and organizing loans, curating exhibitions, and providing opportunities for conservation, research, and authentication.

  • We understand the individual needs of each project and provide personalized solutions for collections of all sizes and mediums.

  • Working with industry specialists and following international museum guidelines, we ensure the highest standard of administration, curation, and conservation.

  • We encourage collecting with purpose, providing guidance surrounding philanthropy, support of artists and the wider arts community, as with our project The Residency.

Professional collections management can often take a backseat to acquisitions, particularly for private collectors. CURA Art aims to change this, offering a supportive role and peace of mind, ensuring your collection has continued management.

With our support collections are enhanced in terms of provenance and value, and also considered in relation to current and future generations. As custodians of cultural heritage, collectors and organizations are tasked with preserving a part of humanity’s identity. CURA Art is here to help.

Why use CURA Art?

With training in conservation, museum studies, art history and curation, CURA Art offers a unique opportunity for a comprehensive approach to managing and preserving works of art.  Our work relies on building trusted relationships, and understanding the privacy of clients, however, some have very kindly provided testimonials:

  • CURA Art client, London

I met CURA Art via the Redfern Gallery and engaged them to catalogue and organise my collection - one that had grown over several decades and countries into something of an undocumented mess. This task was done with great sensitivity and was also a really enlightening process as they made several discoveries about the works in terms of provenance and significance that were fascinating. Additionally, they helped enormously with practical advice on conservation and presentation of several works. The relationship has continued as Georgia has introduced me to several specialist historians, experts and gallery Directors who have given me a broader perspective on the works. It has been a profitable and enjoyable relationship.

  • Tiffiny Lendrum, Art Advisor, Lendrum Fine Art, Los Angeles

I am an art advisor based in Los Angeles, and have had the pleasure of working closely with Liza Shapiro and the Cura Art team for two years. They are thoughtful specialists in the art world who are highly attentive and service oriented. Adept at collection management at the highest level, they are consistent in their attention to detail and undaunted by day-to-day efforts from complex international shipping to intricate fine art conservation.

  • Alice Minter, Curator, The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection, V&A Museum, London

Collectors do not often call themselves so until after many years of acquiring paintings, or objects. Once an acquisition is made, the after-care and cataloguing are a necessity. Having seen Georgia’s remarkable work, I am sure that Sir Arthur Gilbert would have appreciated and greatly benefited from employing the CURA Art team.

  • CURA Art client, Los Angeles

The highest quality of art conservation is essential not only to assure the financial value and personal enjoyment of the work, but it is also the collector’s duty to the artist. No one understands this better than Liza.

  • Rosemary Ransome Wallis, Curator and Art Director, The Goldsmiths’ Company 1972-2017

Georgia’s attention to detail was remarkable; covering all aspects of running a collection or an exhibition, such as transport, insurance, cataloguing, installation and marketing. Her calm professionalism always apparent in how well people responded to her in this world.

  • Nancy Escher, ASA Appraiser & Founder, Escher Associates, Los Angeles

I have had the pleasure of knowing, working with and referring Liza Shapiro and using the wide range of professional services offered by CURA Art. Over the last five years, I have been consistently impressed by her professionalism: she is courteous and enthusiastic, and her observations and reports are meticulous. She also has excellent research skills, which have been helpful in my appraisal practice. Liza will surely contribute a great deal to any task, team or assignment that she takes on.

  • Glen Hardwick-Bruce, Director of Continuing Education, Christie's London & EMEA

At Christie's Education, we support and promote institutions and businesses in the art world that help to elevate the experience of students, collectors and others who have a passion for art. The educational initiatives undertaken by CURA Art have highlighted the importance of purposeful collecting in the art world. The partnership between CURA Art and Christie's Education has made it a valuable resource for both our students and collectors.

  • Eric Turner, Curator, V&A Museum, London

Georgia assisted me with an important cataloguing project, involving photography, movement and handling of objects, associated research and writing descriptions for the online catalogue. Her diligence and application to this project was absolutely admirable.

  • Terri Laine, Patagonia Brand Archivist, CURA Art client, Ventura California

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Liza on organizing and managing a major collection for my employer. I am so impressed by her knowledge and experience in the art world of managing collections and conserving art. Excited to watch CURA Art grow. It seems like it fills a much-needed niche.

  • Richard Selby, Director, Redfern Gallery, London

Georgia managed Redfern Gallery for two years overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations. During that time she implemented several processes to better organise the gallery, including a new collections management database, and a new website and marketing platform. Liza joined the team with a specialist focus on preserving and cataloguing the extensive collection of works on paper. Together, their initiative, skills and knowledge complemented each other and created a productive working environment.
