Cyprus Avenue
Artist Chad Attie, born and raised in Los Angeles, uses the city’s evolving story and abundant aesthetic as a constant source of inspiration. Attie works with collage, photography, painting, sculpture and video to explore personal subject matters from varied perspectives.
Chad Attie’s short film Cyprus Avenue resonates particularly within this unprecedented year, and its heightened feelings of trauma, loss and displacement. Made as an exploration of our journey through life, the film reflects on subjects such as mortality, our sense of place and “home,” and the fragility of our existence.
To celebrate the release of episode 5 of CURA Art’s podcast series “Calls with CURA” in which we hear about what inspires Attie's practice, he has created a series of limited edition prints from the film. In response to the growing homelessness in his hometown, Attie is donating 15% of the proceeds from the sale of these prints to The People Concern, a Los Angeles-based charity that works to address the effects of homelessness, poverty, mental and physical illness, abuse and addiction.
